Vacuuming is Essential to Maintaining Office Carpet

Vacuuming is Essential to Maintaining Office Carpet

Sometimes the smallest details can make the biggest differences. Dust and dirt that settles into your carpet don't present an immediate issue. However, over time, debris can severely fray and damage your carpet while also negatively affecting the air quality of the space. Implementing a consistent vacuuming regimen is an important first step in achieving a cleaner office and better indoor air quality.

We've found that daily vacuuming using CRI (Carpet and Rug Institute) certified vacuums is simply the best and easiest method to maintain your carpeting. High-frequency vacuuming is just one part of our office cleaning services and just the beginning of our extensive carpet cleaning services

Our Vacuums

The style of the vacuum matters a great deal. To maintain the best possible Indoor Air Quality, vacuums should have a number of HEPA filters to filter air and collect debris during vacuuming. These filters collect dust, allergens, and all sorts of potential respiratory irritants. Without filters, the vacuum is only collecting a small portion of larger debris and recirculating dust throughout the space. The Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) has a running list of vacuums that are proven to improve indoor air quality. We've also written about why indoor air quality is so important to monitor and control for your business.

It is also important to note how it is crucial to regularly change the vacuum bags that collect your building's dust and debris. Replacing these bags in a timely fashion improves vacuum performance and physically removes all of the collected dust and debris from your building.

Outlining Vacuuming Frequency with an Office Cleaning Schedule

Vacuuming is an essential step in office cleaning services, however, not all sections of your carpet are used evenly. High traffic sections of carpeting and walk-off mats should be targeted for daily vacuuming. Lower traffic areas like less used hallways, areas around desks, and large open areas should aim for a vacuuming frequency of 2-3 times per week. Areas that receive little to no wear, like corners and edges, should be vacuumed at least once per week but more often is dust and dirt is noticeable. The Carpet and Rug Institute recommends a similar vacuuming frequency for carpeting in commercial buildings.

Consistency is Key

The key to keeping your floors looking great is maintaining consistent cleaning practices. Higher frequency cleaning, while not completely halting the aging of your carpets, helps extend the life expectancy, and durability and maintain the odor of your carpeting. In the long run, the inherent savings of upkeep on your carpets pale in comparison to the undertaking of more frequent replacement.
